Mary Jo Muratore's article "Residual Voices or the Resonance of Postcolonial Silence" has appeared in Studi di Letteratura Francese (Milan/Paris), v. XLVI, 2021.

The article center-stages the insidous plight of three Francophone novelists, all initially muted, yet ultimately triumphant, as manifest in three exemplary (albeit latently heralded) texts: Joseph Zobel's La rue Cases-Nègres, Ferdinand Oyono's Une vie de boy, and Sembène Ousmane's Le docker noir.
