Why Study Portuguese
Explore Portuguese by taking courses offered within the Global Brazil minor. This Humanities minor encourages study of the people, culture, literatures, and languages of Brazil, within a global framework of historical and contemporary interconnections, including Brazil’s relationships with Africa, Europe, Latin America, the United States, and beyond.
Undergraduate Program
Pursue a more advanced understanding of the peoples, cultures, literatures, and languages of Brazil. In this interdisciplinary program, students explore a variety of the country’s diverse peoples and cultures with links to Brazil.

Learn about Brazilian culture and society through an analysis of the country’s history, from Portuguese colonization to today. Gain insight into the country’s national identity and history by analyzing contemporary cinematic productions and their portrayals of race and gender.
