Bio

Dan earned his BA at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his MA at San Francisco State University. His doctoral studies focus on 19th century French literature, and his dissertation examines yearning and desire in Émile Zola’s Rougon-Macquart series through a Jungian lens as a journey to Individuation. Other research interests include gastronomic cultural studies, literary theory surrounding the novel, and representations of urban/rural spaces. Dan has spent the past few years teaching at Université de Paris Ouest (formerly Paris X Nanterre) and Université de Paris III Sorbonne-Nouvelle. He is currently based in Paris, France.
