Afro-Romance Institute

As the first and one of the only institutes of its kind in the United States, we are dedicated to rigorously exploring, preserving and disseminating the rich cultural, historical, and literary traditions of Afro-Diasporic communities. This includes bringing focused attention to the intersections of history, culture, language, and identity, while also amplifying the voices and stories of Afro-Diasporic peoples and their profound contributions to the global human experience. We further commit to fostering scholarly excellence, interdisciplinary dialogue, and innovative research that highlight the significance of Afro-Romance cultures, serving the academic community and wider world as a beacon of knowledge, inspiration, and connection.

The Interdisciplinary Migration Studies Institute

The Interdisciplinary Migration Studies Institute (IMSI) connects scholars, students, and community members who seek to understand and engage productively with migration and displacement. We welcome all migration scholars and are primarily dedicated to exploring what the humanities bring to studying migration.

Centering the human experiences and stories of migration enables us to highlight problems and policies, the unique capacities of immigrants and displaced peoples, and the experience of migration itself.
