Many congratulations to senior, Katie Jones, Vocal Performance major at Mizzou and Italian language student, who has landed a position at the Mediterranean Opera Festival in Caltagirone, Sicily this summer! Katie will perform the role of Gilda in a production of Verdi's "Rigoletto" along with chorus roles in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" and Donizetti's "Don Pasquale." Katie states that her language study at Mizzou was fundamental in landing this position: "My study of Italian has helped me prepare for this intensive program, one by improving my understanding and pronunciation of the Italian libretti, but also by allowing me to feel comfortable communicating with locals while abroad." Kudos to Katie!
