Sarah Peters is finishing her master's degree this year in Atlantic History and Politics. Last year, she completed the 12-credit hour intensive Italian language sequence. This year she's completed intermediate and post-intermediate Italian and will be studying abroad in Sicily in May. Her master's thesis is on Italian Politics. She recently spoke about her time as an SLLC student and how it helped her secure her new position as the Public Information Intern for the United Nations.

"This summer, I will be the graduate UN Public Information Intern for the United Nations Secretariat in the Department of Global Communications. In this role, I will assist in preparing events for high-level visitors from headquarters and field offices, assist with the production of communication products, coordinate logistics for events, and assist with speaking engagements for the United Nations. During my time at Mizzou, I've had the privilege of learning Italian for two years. Learning a language has helped to enhance my cross-cultural communication skills and has been invaluable in preparing for a career in politics and international relations. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn a language at Mizzou and the multicultural skills it has given me in the journey of pursuing a career in diplomacy."
